Limiting Beliefs That Might Be Slowing You Down
Limiting Belief:
I can’t run. I’m too slow.
Truth:
My body can do whatever I put my mind to.
Limiting Beliefs are beliefs (or a state of mind) that you know to be true that limits you in some way. If not acknowledged, limiting beliefs can keep you stuck in a negative state of mind and hinder you from living up to your full potential.
A woman in my bootcamp class had stopped me while doing sprints to tell me “Dang, girl! You are SO fast!!!”
I smiled and quietly said “thanks!” as I made my way to the back of the line. Then I silently started tearing up. Obviously, super glad that it looked like sweat! 😢😅
Little did she know that my entire life...
I have always been the last one to cross the baseline for sprints in sports.
I have always been told I can’t run to save my life.
I have always been told that I trip over the painted lines on the ground.
I have always been told that I’m always too slow and that I can never get there fast enough.
Her small comment made a HUGE impact of bringing the lie I had been carrying around for 10+ years into the light and CRUSHING IT.
I have been so proud of my running journey and I’m so grateful for the honesty and kindness of strangers to share with me EXACTLY what I needed to hear when I needed to hear it.
CHALLENGE: Next time you feel like you should compliment someone, but decide it might come off weird or out of line... I challenge you... just do it. SAY IT! You might just help them crush a limiting belief they’ve been carrying around for an entire decade too!
Sending hugs!
