Don't Compare Your Self-Care On Social Media
Everyone seems to be discovering new ways to cope with what's happening around us. If you’re not careful and start scrolling during an unhealthy mindset, it can feel like it’s becoming a self-care competition.
We've got sourdough starters, morning yoga, models in perfectly curated pajamas, designer candles, bath bombs with rose petals, and gold foil face masks all feeling like an unsaid sensational self-care award and I, for one, am feeling things.
Is it ok that my version of self-care looks like my husband’s t-shirt and mismatched fuzzy socks? Or that I feel the most relaxed with a coloring book and Crayola markers? Is it ok that my version of self-care is binging Disney movies or blasting 80’s classic rock while dancing in the kitchen?
Yes. Yes, it IS!
But, what’s not okay is comparing your self-care with your social media feed.
Right now in this crazy season, you need to do what feels most life-giving to you each day. And that can look as unorganized and un-curated as it needs to. In fact, the less photogenic, the BETTER!
Self-care is all about caring for you!
Self-care is all about caring for YOU, so check in with your body, note what needs a little break, and then do what feels right! There is no right way to honor yourself and what you need. I'd love to hear your favorite (or maybe a little unusual?) way to self-care!
Sending hugs!
