Dear Younger Me

Over 8 years ago, I wish I could have told “Young Lost Amber” what I know now.

I would have sat across the table, held her cheeks, and looked deep into her eyes. I would speak soft and gentle because I know that behind her fun, carefree, and Miss Independent attitude she was fragile and broken—lost. I would have prepared her for the journey she’d be in for...

  1. How deciding to move to Nashville would change her entire life as she knew it.

  2. How her friends will completely change and it will feel like the end of the world. But you’ll both grow up and you’ll see why—I promise.

  3. How wearing her heart on her sleeve and being desperate to find love isn’t where you find your identity. Plus, he isn’t the one for you, you’ll find your dream husband—I promise.

  4. How crying her eyes out in a church parking lot will result in finding Jesus. He’s been with you all along, even in the dark times, you just didn’t want to see it. This will shift your heart forever—I promise.

  5. How the years of stumbling through jobs, wondering if and where you belong will keep stirring in your heart. Never feeling fulfilled. Keep searching, you’ll find it—I promise.

  6. How in a moment of bravery, you will unleash your frustration and quit your 9-5 job for the last time… creating your own route to use your creative gifts and love people. This will be one of the biggest self-growth journeys you’ll embark on. It’s going to be hard, but it’s worth it—I promise.

  7. How you’ll finally feel confident in your body. The jokes about your height or nose will no longer scratch the surface. You finally accept and love yourself for who you are and begin to fully step into who God made you to be. Be kind to yourself, confidence is coming—I promise.

  8. How you’ll meet your husband on a dating app, laugh over margaritas and queso, you’d fall in love with the most tender man to walk the earth. Even on your darkest and most vulnerable days, he loves you more than life itself. He is the one worth waiting for—I promise.

  9. How you’ll open your home every Wednesday to create a safe welcoming, space to love on women in Nashville desperately seeking community—to find lifelong friends and finally belong—I promise.

  10. How you’ll muster up the courage to create a new style of the conference: an experience unlike anything done before because you listened to your heart, felt the need, and created out of pure obedience. This will change your life and the lives of many—I promise.

Oh, young lost Amber… it all works out in the end. Don’t lose sleep, sweet girl. God’s plans are much bigger and better than what you could ever imagine. Loosen your grip on your future. Trust Him. Enjoy the ride. Chin up, shoulders back. We got this.

Sending hugs!
Love, Am
